After the public appearance of Donald, dux of the Aremoricans, and his family, Theresa the Stubborn, who had formed a great bitterness because she had been forced to retire to a nunnery, compelled the Queen of the Angles, Saxons, Britons, Picts, and Scots to entertain Donald at a great banquet. Donald arrived in an outlandish costume based on the dress of a wealthy nobleman but with the various components of different sizes, ill-matched and worn in an amusing fashion. The Angles and others believed that this was because Donald was an ignorant dolt who knew not how to act, but in this they were mistaken. As I have told you before, wearing entertaining and incongruous outfits was a part of Donald’s performance as a famous jester, so this part of his act went, as they say, over the heads of the Angles.
